A DIVA In Heaven

Over the weekend a very special friend passed away.  I don’t waste time wondering why a beautiful 49-year-old DIVA dies because I believe everything is always in Divine order.

I know I blog about love, but this woman’s life was led, genuinely led, by faith and love.  I want to share her with you so that you can not only use her life as an example but also so that you recognize people like her in your life…AND appreciate them.  She was a true friend.

Her given name is Shawnda but I’ve always called her Marie.

I met Marie about 17 years ago.  We were both recruiters at a company where she worked for me for a short time.  Our connection was immediate and deep.  Her honesty without compromise was refreshing.  She spoke her mind no matter what!  If she had an opinion about something, you better believe she made sure you knew her thoughts. I appreciated the way she carried herself.  She was always put together and beautiful with her eyelashes done, her makeup perfect and her nails on point…DIVA style.  The love she had for herself and the way she celebrated her faith was truly something to admire.

Let me tell you what she did for me and my son when I was hospitalized many years ago…

When I was unexpectedly ill which led to my disability and couldn’t get my son to school,  she moved into my place despite the inconvenience to her life.  She drove my son to school every day and kept him fed and cared for until my family could get him into a school near them.  At the time, I lived in West Los Angeles and I worked in Glendale which is a 30 to 45-minute drive with LA traffic.  My son was in first grade attending a private school near my job.  Marie voluntarily stepped up like the angel she was and took care of him.  She even  had professional pictures of him taken with signs that said: “I love you!”  She brought him and the pictures to me in the hospital for no other reason than she thought it would make me feel better!  And it did!

From that point forward she referred to my son as her nephew.

She was an R & B singer-songwriter with the voice of an angel.  Listen to her song Paranoid I know beautiful huh?!

She was a sister (with an identical twin), an aunt, a daughter, a Christian minister, a friend, singer, a songwriter, an HR professional, a beautiful angel and so much more…

Goodbye, my sweet sister friend.  thank you for the laughter, love, faith, and the life you led by example unapologetically.

I love you Marie and miss you already!  Peace and blessings of love to her family, friends and loved ones.

CELEBRATE HER LIFE…I know she is!

Love, Light, and Celebration!
